I couldn't post in General so I put this here.It isn't really a screen shot. Work's been crazy but I managed to get a few minutes in on photoshop today. This is just (FF14) text but let me know if you'd like me to work on a banner for the main page.

I wanted to do a larger version of this one, but the file size was too large for the site:

I got this one from going more with "Astral" as a concept than "Flames". I still like it though. It was too busy to put over the fireworks background which is why I went with the 3D molten fire letters instead.

What software are you using, Auric? Can you do glow effects instead of a white block around the text?
Nice work guys

I made the 3D text using this site:

http://www.picturetopeople.org/text_generator/light_text_catalog.html

I found this site while Googling around the Internet looking for a decent flame/fiery/burning letter font, which I was completely unable to find. (What some of these font designers were thinking, I just don't know…) I stumbled on the "FlamingText" logo design site first, which made that animated gif for me (http://www.flamingtext.com/Animated-Logos), but I couldn't get past the file size limit – and besides, while animated gifs look great at first, people often get tired of them pretty quick!

I sort of have access to Photoshop but I've never learned to use it properly (It keeps falling off my to-do list, sigh) so I usually make do with beating on Paint to make it be useful, which takes a lot of effort. I was also working with the Word Art functions in Word (which are quite powerful for 2D text effects) and then taking screen snip and pasting into Paint, which is where the trouble with the white cutout border comes in. Paint does not – as far as I can tell – have the tools to do any kind of nice seamless images combinations. If you're good with Photoshop I'm sure you can do a MUCH better job.

I also ran into some issues putting text over the fireworks banner. I love the banner, but it goes from very dark with light patches on the left to mostly light on the right, meaning it requires an outline font to be readable. I had a lot of issues when playing with the 2D fonts trying to get it not to cause eyestrain. The blocky white outline I got at least solved that issue…

Here are some of the fonts I was working with in the 3D text generator:

And this was my best attempt with Word Art at making a 2D logo:

If you upload the banner w/o the "Astral Flames" text, I'll pop it on and do a glow that will separate the text slightly but have a softer look. If you can remove the drop shadow from the 3D text you want to use, and upload that, it'll be easier to separate it and put it back on the banner with the glow.
Totally up to you, just thought I'd offer.

Here's a link to the uncropped banner:

I'll have to poke at the 3D text generator site a bit more to see if I can eliminate the drop shadow. There are some customization options but I'm not sure how powerful they are.

ok, I'll save the ones on the white background and give it a shot.
